azpackhorse Report post Posted February 23, 2006 I would rather be posting a picture of my Archery Coues but that's a whole other story so 2006 Javelina will have to do. This is the first big game kill for my new Bowtech Allegiance, man this thing shoots sweet! This little boar weighed about 30lbs, which was fine, being I was a ways from the truck. I spent most of morning on the 17th of February stalking these critters, it was cold and the wind was swirling, finally this guy gave me a 42 yard shot. The Bowtech performed awesome except it shoots so fast I have a hard time seeing my arrow, thought I missed but he got sick real fast and rolled down the hill. 25-06 Report post Posted February 23, 2006 Congrats on your hunt Did you hunt around water?
azpackhorse Report post Posted February 23, 2006 The nearest water I know of was about 1/2 mile away, I just chase them around until they tire enough for me to take a shot.
WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted February 23, 2006 nice pig, I just got a new bow after my hunts were done and am getting it in shape for turkey in Kansas
azpackhorse Report post Posted February 23, 2006 What kind of bow did you buy? I really want to take a turkey with my bow, I've knocked a few feathers out of a nice tom but that's as close as I have come. It is really hard to draw on them unless you are in a blind but it's allot of fun trying.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Congrats on baptizing the new bow . Glad you like it a lot. Today's new bows sure are a sweet shooting lot. Really not much difference between Hoyts, Mathews, AR, and Bowtech among their top lines. Now you got me having a heavy pack this weekend on my javi hunt in 23, between a new Kimber 22-250, S&W 357, and Mathews LX. Won't be nuttin left of that pig after I shoot him multiple times with all weapons. Hope you're rewarded with a nice velvet coues in August. RR
WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted February 25, 2006 azpackhorse- I went and got an xt. I shot most of the new bows, including bowtech, hoyt, mathews and really like the Trykon and Switchback, finally decided on the switchback xt, the valley on the Trykon i didn't like and had a negative experience with bowtech reps, and the xt felt great. My buddy has a farm in Kansas and we are going back and we will use a blind. I still can't wait for August, I'm determined to take my first coues this year ( i said that last year, getting a little closer )
