coueshunter Report post Posted November 25, 2011 PLEASE NOTE: I am not trying to look tough and not smile, I am afflicted with Bell's Palsy so the right side of my face doesnt work and my eye wont close. I had to manually close my eye to keep it watered. (tough glassing with Bell's) Anyway, I wanted to smile but it just wouldnt happen so please ignore the ugly mug shots of me........LOL...... Had a good hunt on the Kaibab this year. Weather didnt cooperate first few days, very very windy friday/saturday. Sunday it slowed down a bit and monday it was relativeyly calm. I was in Duwane Adams camp. www.arizonabiggamehunting.com I shot this buck first thing monday morning. I glassed him up coming down off a ridge by himself. He had a slightly swollen neck, but wasnt really rutty. He didnt have any does with him, but alot of other bucks we saw were kicking in and chasing does. Chef (Hector) wasnt up there this year, he was missed but I kept in touch with him and let him know what was going on. The bucks in some areas were really chasing and some areas I believe just didnt have does in estrus yet, so the bucks werent as crazy. I assume after monday that it all changed and the rut was in full swing. Duwane Adams camp had 2 bucks down when I left. My buck has a broken right back fork, but if I make allowance equal to the left side, my buck grosses 185 2/8ths. He has an inside spread of 22 5/8, alot of mass all the way out and great eye guards. The other buck in camp was a beautiful non-typical that with the cheaters had an outside spread of 30 inches. This is where I shot him from. 630 yards.......I used Duwanes gun with the Huskemaw scope/turret system.....man I cant believe how great that works. It did take 2 shots but at that distance and with Bell's Palsy affecting my eye, I couldnt be happier......Hope everyone else gets a good buck........Allen Taylor.....
