DesertBull Report post Posted November 23, 2011 Did you know?Donnie Fenn's Chasin' Tail Guide Service promotes itself on its website as "The ultimate dry ground mountain lion hunting experience." It charges people $2,500 for a three-day guided mountain lion hunt and $4,000 for a hunt that lasts " 'till we get one," the website said. To make it sound like the guy is getting rich off of killing lions? I would have NEVER called the G&F in the first place. You never know when they might try and cite you for harassing an endangered species.
COUESAZ Report post Posted November 23, 2011 You know how journalism is. They are going to throw a twist in it to draw an eye to things on their agenda. I think they did the right thing by calling. He called as soon as he knew what they had. A guide that is straight up honest is the one I want to use. They did just what they knew they should do. I am sure Donnie k eq his dogs would not stop right there so he called them to see what he should do. If the wrong people see you running dogs on a jaguar you are done running dogs anyplace. And some one will end up with your dogs.
AZLance Report post Posted November 23, 2011 Why "should" you call game and fish if you see a jaguar? What benefit is this to the jaguar? I would tell game and fish to go find their own jaguar...

I've seen plenty of stories in newspapers where they add a little post-script to the article that sometimes calls out details of the subject and/or object of the interview. Seems to me like it was maybe the reporting giving Donnie a little PR...... Not sure what the writer's motive was to put this 'factoid' in at the end of the article, but that's how I interpreted it..... S.

You can bet the farm that the reporter's motive had nothing to do with giving a hunting guide "a little PR." Bill Quimby

synper100 Report post Posted November 24, 2011 as usual, game and fish just does't get it. they don't have a clue. i would not involve game and fish for nothing. only asking for trouble with some of their personnel assuming guilty until proven innocent.thats the way they work, ESPECIALLY IN UNIT 33!!!!!!!!

cvw789 Report post Posted November 24, 2011 Thank you to Donny for sharing this awesome story. I was lucky to get to see the video and pictures Saturday night and they were amazing. It saddens me that the reporter had to stoop to the same level as some of the left wing environmentalists but it is what it is. You would think though that AZGFD would be more interested in aquiring the pictures for further study. Donny wasn't asking for a finders fee he just wanted them to be used apropriately. stanley Report post Posted November 24, 2011 Well, I don't live in Tucson so I don't read the Daily Star. Didn't realize the reporter had such a reputation..... Also likely due to my own ignorance, I don't completely understand the negative comments towards the G&F on this. Seems like Donnie did the right thing by reporting the event. Then it seems like the G&F investigated and gathered as much info as they could on it. Looks like that's the end of the story. I didn't see any kind of 'guilty until proven innocent' on this thing. Oh well, either way it's pretty cool to think that there is still the occasional Jaguar running around. S.

I agree...Hopefully they learned from the last problem that came up with Macho B...we all learn from our mistakes and can improve on them. I just wish I could have seen that Jag, I have heard that roar that is talked about in the Cerro Colorados in 36c 10 years ago. its a crazy sound, very deep, almost can feel it in your chest like base from a stereo...
