Ginormous Jr hunt hog

I had the oppertunity to help my good buddy Roger Cook and his daughter Megan out on her very first big game hunt in Arizona last Friday. Roger scouted and scouted some more finding a large herd of peccaries in a nasty rock pile a long ways away from roads. The hogs were there when we finally got there but due to "hog fever" Megan managed to miss a few throughout the day, luckily they were homebody hogs and didn't go all that far. We picked them up 2 more times throughout the morning and afternoon and got a few more oppertunities before she finally settled down and knocked this one over at 96 yards with her .243 Remington 600. It was awesome to see a junior so fired up about hunting. The hog weighed right around 40 pounds gutted, by far the largest rock pile sow I have ever seen killed, and I have seen a bunch of 'em. Now if I can just refind the herd on Friday and lay the pistola smackdown..

I spent last weekend out with my son as he nailed his first javelina. We also helped at the ADA youth camp and saw over a dozen kids come through with pigs. Big smiles all around...

The hog was ancient. Her teeth were wore flat and even one of the tusks was busted and rounded down. Her kneepads were also completely bald, it definately looked to be older than any of the other hogs we have shot out of there. Thanks for all the compliments..
