ThomC Report post Posted November 10, 2011 Wasn't it a whole lot simpler when you just went to your mail box and there was your tag. Or later you got your rejection check. I never did. December Whitetail tags were easy to get. I actually quit putting for Dec. tags because it was too cold and rained all the time. Didnt have to worry about preference points or computers. Outdoor Writer Report post Posted November 17, 2011 ratherbehunting, I believe the actual reason they can't charge your cc before the draw are anti gambling laws which don't allow charges on cards for gambling/lotteries. Once your drawn they can charge you for the tag itself. I don't think the USO fiasco was the whole cause of the stoppage of the electronic application process here though. As I recall it more to do with the IT firm that was processing the drawing and the enormous amount of errors they made. I'm getting pretty old though, and the memory doesn't work as well as it used to. The main reason the online application process was previously stopped had to do with the company doing it not having a security bond that covered the amount of money it processed, which is a very substancial sum. And yes, it is against state law to charge a CC up front without delivery of what the charge covers. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
