On the archery page a couple of guys mentioned trick tanks. I've heard the word charco, cattle tank, impoundment, but never trick tank. Can someone explain, is this just another word for the same thing or are they different some how?

A trick tank is a drinking trough (usually for wildlife) that is fed by a collector that collects rainfall and funnels it into a storage tank. They can be constructed in remote areas where there is no well or power to provide permanent water for wildlife (assuming sufficient rainfall).

Trick tanks are cathment units or 'aprons' that collect precipitation (I know, you've forgotten what that is since you we haven't seen any in forever) and store it in above ground tanks. The stored water is then gravity fed to troughs. The "trick" is to get rain to fill them and keep them in some decent state of repair.

Thanks for sharing this site with us! There are many trick tanks in unit 23 as well. The trick is to find where the trough or watering whole. Some of the pipes are exposed and some are not. Thanks again.
