To me it looks like the hide is cut and the actual hole is about An inch or so diameter. Thats purely energy transfer. It didnt really ruin any meat. Took a little off the shoulder but the rest is fine. The actual entrance hole is .30 and exit is about 2" (at rib cage). I believe it just stretched the hide to tearing point.
