bowhuntaz1 Report post Posted October 22, 2011 Heads up guys and gals. FYI - A javelina submitted by the Az Game & Fish Department has tested positive for rabies at the AZ State Health Lab. The javelina came through a door and bit a man on the leg in the Morristown area on Oct. 19th. The bite victim was notified, and he has been advised to seek post exposure prophylaxis (PEP). The location is near the Hwy 60 & Hwy 74 junction. Brain tissue from this rabid javelina is being sent to the CDC Lab for variant typing. Be aware as this probably means there is some ongoing rabies activity (possibly in foxes?) in the outskirts of the Northwest Valley.
