non-typical coues and hybrid pics

Recommended Posts

Hey Justin, Bret sent me that pic of the coues a while back, but it was from farther away and I thought it was a hoax and that there were actually 2 sets of antlers sitting inside the rack of a mounted buck. I was wrong! that is a freak. It reminds me of that buck Dan King killed, those bases are insane! With a tail like that, I bet that Mulie didn't have any problems with keeping the flies off his butt! :D JIM

The owner of the non-typical buck told me it was taken out of the Santa Ritas. If memory serves correct, he shot him about twenty years ago. The score is mid 150s (I would have guessed higher), but is not in the book because the skull was split during harvest. I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw this deer. The owner let me take a few pictures, but does not want to be identified. The second buck is a proven hybrid taken this January. The owner has had him checked out by a wildlife biologist and the game and fish. He had been on this deer before, but missed a shot with his bow in a previous season. He was fortunate enough to get another chance to take that buck and finish the deal. On a last note, my hunting partner purchased a coues skull taken in Oct., it has a double main beam on one side. He offered twenty five dollars and the owner took it. I think he is going to post this deer, it is definately a neat looking buck.
