What kind of work do you do?

Wow, that is a tough decision. I guess the only way it's a bad decision is if you get a job immediately after selling the stuff. Then you sold them for no reason. But if you do get a job then you can buy them back, so I guess sell them if you really need the money. Your hunting friends can always loan you gear until you get back into full employment.

I think Outdoorsmans is looking to hire a salesman who knows optics and hunting gear, so you might be able to do that for awhile. http://www.outdoorsmans.com/

Tough spot for sure..... like Amanda said, if you have friends they could help loan you stuff if you sold it. you can also rent glasses if you sold them. theres a sponsor in here thay rents them out for what IMO is a fair price on sweet glass.

good luck in your search. there aint much that bites worse, specially if you have little ones. dont know what your situation is but personally, if i had little ones and it came to puttin food on the table or a house to be in id sell em....

i hope for the best for you.

Check with the school districts. Pull up their websites. There is alot of turn over. Granted the pay is not great, but the benefits are pretty good. I've got 18 years as a teacher and counselor and haven't had a raise in quite a few years. But classified staff - custodians, electricians, plumbers, grounds guys, they seem to get regular raises.

Sorry that things are so tough but family first. A buddies dad used to buy guns just so he could sell them later when times got tough. His dad has since passed, and he has had to sell of bunch of his dads stuff. It's tough, but sometimes we just do what we have to do, and not what we want to do.

Hope things get better.

I now a few guys that sell pizza's at night, they make between 50-80 bucks per night delivering pizza, may be a short term option until you find full time work. don't forget to check the temparary agency's.

I have tried most options and when I show work history or a resume I get the over qualified speach, most places in construction won't touch me cuz I'm union trained and the non construction won't look at me cuz they're afraid when I get the opportunity ill leave! I'm sure somethin will turn up if not I still have unemployment for now, plus I'm. Gunna start sellin my gear fornow and hope to recover some of it in the future!

gear can be replaced. Your health, from stressing over money, cannot.

Ever thought of starting your own fire sprinkler business? Not a great time to start a construction business, but you never know. Quality work at a fair price is still in high demand.

Is your local the same as the Phoenix local for sprinkler fitters/pipefitters??? I work for Rosendin Electric out at Intel. Harder, DSI, JB Henderson are all union shops that have a lot of work. Plus, with Fab 42 not even built yet there is a LOT of work for years to come. I don't know how you feel about moving or possibly doing some commuting, but that might be an avenue for you to look at. You probably already know all this but thought I would throw it out there.

I went through a similar dilemma in December after some unpaid time off for surgery and I sold some hunting stuff that I really did not want to sell. It paid the bills and for that I don't regret losing that stuff. It can always be replaced later.
