azhuntnut Report post Posted February 7, 2006 Is this a trail cam picture? He must be slowly bleeding inside. The bull in the background has a nice rack. David
fatfootdoc Report post Posted February 7, 2006 That arrow is probably in the outer layer of his vitals, if it is in a lung it probably is keeping him from exchanging oxygen well and that will cause failure to thrive (skinny bony appearance) kind of the same appearance you see with someone who has emphysema bad. It had to have pierced his diaphram so he is at least no getting good contractility of his upper chest. That sucks, the anti's would love to get ahold of that pic. Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted February 7, 2006 That bull in the back ground (nice bull!) looks to be bugleing or tasting the air.... is this pic from the fall??? I can't imagine a bull being able to live this long with an arrow right there.... and the wound looks pretty tight.... not like an arrow that has been getting caught on trees and brush for months.... that would be a nasty festering wound by now. Bummer deal if it is a current pic......
GRONG Report post Posted February 7, 2006 Oh man......... That just totally hurts to look at! Bummer............
coueshunter84 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 Somewhere out there is an archer whos not a happy camper. From all appearences thats all but a real good shot. unless its a cross-bow bolt, it should have penetrated at least one lung more likely both, and maybe even the top of the heart. With the angle it looks like it should have wedged in the far shoulder. I wonder if someone grabbed the wrong arrow and got a field point. Anything with blades even dull ones should have taken this one down, I think. again unless its a very short arrow/bolt and stuck into a rib on this side without passing through into the thorax. I agree that should be a dead bull. Man I bet whoever owns that arrow is bummed. and only they know the true story. Shane
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 ditto everyone else, looks like a good shot! if he was shot with a 300 RUM he would not be moving right now that is for sure! but yes he does look skinny and unhealthy, i give him another month if that! COOSEFAN Report post Posted February 8, 2006 Not trying to find your spots but was this in units 22 or 23? They have the late archery season and I couldn't imagine that bull lasting from the Sept. hunts. I've seen that before but never with a shot like that and I just can't believe that the arrow is still there and not broken or bit off even from the late archery seasons. I think that arrow hit maybe one lung, more than likely neither because it's too low, the lungs taper up towards the back and I just have a hard time believing a bull could last this long if it were in lungs. That is a very sad pic, and it would be very bad for it to get into the wrong hands. JIM
