Matthew's First Youth Deer Hunt

Recommended Posts

Well boy's the lil man had an amazing time slingin lead! He came home with his tag in hand but it wasn't for lack of deer! Thank you to everyone who helped us or even introduced themselves. Matthew let 18 rounds fly over three bucks in three days and just never connected. It was hard to watch my lil paper sniper lose his composure and tear up after the buck in velvet bound over the hill. Matthew looked at me and said " My heart is beating so hard and I feel like throwing up!" Classic buck fever had gotten the best of him. He is a good spirited kid that will kill big bucks in the years to come so I'm not worried about inches just fun right now. Thank you to T.A.M. and his boys for sharing their spot with us. Thank you to Scott Muzzy, Jeff, Bo, Robert, and all your families for sharing a great time at camp and the Memories won't be forgotten. Jeff an Trevor, we will call you later this week! Big Thanks to All who PM'd me with tips!!! It's all for the kids sakes!!!

Better luck next time Matthew! That Buck Fever strikes a lot of us, no matter how old we get! Don't worry, with practice and lots patience you'll get your deer!

Sorry to hear Mathrew didn't tag but sounds like he had a great time of trying. I still get some buck fever once in a while and it just seems to never get any better when it hits you. This experience will just make his first buck that much more meaningful. Good luck next time Mathew. You will get it done. :)

Sounds like it was a fun filled exciting hunt. I've been known to let buck fever get a hold of me so bad that I've had to shoot 13 times  before anchoring a buck so don't feel bad. ;)

Yup! The fun is in the trying!

You'll learn to focus and hold your composure better as experience comes your way.

Consider this hunt a lesson that you done and got out of the way.

I tell you what, all the bucks you pursue after this, better look out!
