Looks more like a texaswhitetail than a coueswhitetail in my opinion

Looks funny where the horns meet the head at the pedastals.....looks like a coues head with other antlers attached.

The face is darker than an Arizona Coues deer's, but I've seen that a lot of similarly colored Coues deer capes out of Chihuahua. I agree it's probably a Texas whitetail, or some other smaller subspecies. The antlers are wrong for a Coues deer. More importantly, the ears on this cape are too short. Large ears are a hallmark of O.v. couesi.

 

I couldn't open the E-bay link, but I hope no one is claiming this is a B&C buck.

It is a guy in Missouri who bought a coues mount, bought antlers from a taxidermist in Arizona, and then upgraded the mount. They claims it is real and even have an Arizona 35B tag from 2003. They say it scores 117 5/8 inches

I sure hope this guy gets enough out of the mount to buy a grammar book. How many spelling and grammatical errors can someone make in a single add? That alone would deter me. Besides that, I just hate it when the skull plate "crackets in transet" How bad would that suck?-Shiras

I'd give them $20 bucks for it..... but that ain't no Coues.

 

If that was killed in '03, the taxidermy looks like it was done in '73. I'd get my $ back from the taxidermist if my mount came back like that rip off job.
