muzzlehunter75 Report post Posted October 6, 2011 Well The rut in 9 realy sucked, matter in fact they are realy rutting right now. Well the first day started, with hardly no bugles. My wife and I stopped at 830 am to have a cigarett, so I decided to bugle. All of a sudden we had a Bull bugle real close, I told my wife lets go. we went in, and he was answering us like crazy, then he shut up, and we couldn't locate him. Well that evening, we went back in, but I had a bad cold, and was coughing like crazy, so I told my wife I would leave her in the blind, and go back to the quad. Well when I got back to the quad, I had a coughing attack for 15 minutes. After hacking, I decided to go back in, and I would just sit about 80 yards from my wife. My wife bless her heart, decided to try and bugle, well lets just say, I almost laughed my *bugle**bugle**bugle* off! Well I then decided to help her and I let out a bugle, she was so happy, that I was back. Well after 30 minutes, with no bugles, we decided to start packing up, when I bugled one last time, and cow called, when a bull started screaming at us. I called the bull into 30 yards, but my wife didn't have a shot, then bull winded us and took off crashing through the woods. Day 2, no luck in the morning, that evening we decided to sit a water hole, we got there at 330pm, when at 5 pm, a truck was coming down the road, he passed our quad, and this road is one way in, he started down to the hole, when I decided to waive to him, and he waives back, and keeps coming down the road. I told my wife, if this guy walks this water hole, i'm going to be on his *bugle**bugle**bugle*. well they parked behind the burm, and started bugling. I couldn't believe, what I was hearing, they sucked so bad, my wife sounded better lol! Well It was 615pm, and my wife was getting discouraged, and was like cow call, I told her to be patient, and wait a little. Well now it's 625pm when I look out and see this bull coming in quick to water, I told my wife when he passes this tree shoot, it was about 174 yards. She was so nervouse, that she didn't shoot. Well the bull kept coming in and i'm like shoot, she is like not shooting, which I was having a heart attack now! Well the bull reached water, and my wife still is not shooting. when I look over and she has the shakes so bad, I leaned over with my hand on her back, and said breath. Well all of a sudden she breaths, and on exhale she shoots. She hit him in the shoulder right through the heart, he went 35 yards and hit dirt. He is not the biggest bull, but it's her trophy, and it's a nice bull for her first! We didn't score him, because i'm kind of new at that, so if you guys could give us a guess score it would be appreciated! She is having this bull done in a European mount with the skull camo dipped, so here is a picture of her bull, he is deformed, and has 3 small points coming out where is other eye guard should be, the base I can't get my hand around! Also here is a picture of her Tom she shot in 9! Turkey Day, first morning my wife and I sit at a tank, we had a hunter park 100 yards away from us and he sit in his truck, I was like what the heck! Well that evening we had to come home, because I had to work on Saturday, and pick our 6 year old son up. well we headed back up Saturday night, and after getting up there at 1130pm, we decided to sleep in. Well we woke up and decided to go hunting when, guess what? It started Pouring, so we decided to just stay in camp, and wait it out, well it rained and rained. Well next morning we decided to drive, instead of taking the quad, because we fiqured it was just to cold for our son. Well we take off, and I take this road, and a hunter pulls out in front of me, and they are hunting, so I told my wife we will take what ever road they don't take, well we found a road and took it. We are driving down the road when, my 6 year old says ducks, then says they no ducks, and very quitely says turkeys, so my wife slips out and sneeks into the woods, and I hear a shot, her first shot with my 12 gauge with primos tight wad choke with 3 1/2 nitro express at 45 yards she hit him in the head, Well my wife was so excited, that she double pumped, and her shell fell to the ground, well then she pumps another one, and notices that the turkey isn't moving, she walks up to it, and all of a sunden, the turkey jumps up and starts flapping his wings. That turkey spooked my wife so bad, that she shot off her hip, and kinda blew his, well the whole drumstick off. But it was able to be saved, and if it wasn't for our 6 year old son hunter, we would of probably missed them. Well i'm not the best writer, so hope you guys enjoy, thanks Larry! Lookin4amonster Report post Posted October 6, 2011 Not kidding. I heard you coughing in unit 9 on opening evening. I shared my story on here 2 weeks ago & posted that some yahoo was coughing up a storm like 50 yards from us at his quad. Small world. aznate Report post Posted October 7, 2011 I was on the turkey hunt fri-sat. I took one shot and either missed or didn't get a good hit. I can't believe I missed as I had a bead right on that turkeys head, at any rate it flew off and I couldn't find it. I hope I missed it and it didn't become coyote food. Tell your wife great job!
