Buckhunter Report post Posted September 27, 2011 I was up in 23 last monday. Saw a little smoke on top of Armer Mountain for the last few weeks, no big deal. Went up today to check cams and I can see flames from the lower 288 turnoff. Then I see a sign board saying road closed fire on road. What was a little fire on top of the mountain has now spread over the road and is burning its way towards Workman creek. It has already burned up Conner Pit, Saw Mill Flats, and Honey Creek Divide camp locations. What bummer. Waisted the day and gas. Did see 4 deer, a few cows with 2 bulls, 2 flocks of turkeys and some Javis. Spoke to a guy from Forest Service. He told me if they can get in control of the fire up to Workman the road will open in a few days to a week.

mbiewer Report post Posted September 27, 2011 The armer mountain fire has officially been named the tanner fire. (http://www.inciweb.org/incident/2705/) as of the last posting it said they were only 10% contained but working hard to get the road reopened. The road is only closed from A-cross to Reynold's creek. Bonecollector, if you go up to the north half you can still drop down to below young (just a little longer). Good luck on your turkey hunt. We were planning to go scout for muley this weekend. Kinda bummed about what the fire will do n the next few weeks until they get it knocked out
