Miller's Southwest Report post Posted September 15, 2011 Here's a quick overview of the information that we received from hunters that either brought in or stopped by to tell us how their hunt was going since archery season started last Friday. At Clints Well, units 5A,5B N/S & 6A. The majority of hunters in all of these units reported low rut activity and bugling over the weekend and into the first part of this week. Elk numbers were also reported by the majority as being lower than in past years, however some camps were in to elk every day. Success over the weekend was low, but as this week progresses, success and rut activity is increasing. At Forest Lakes, units 3A/3C, 4A,4B & 23. There were mixed reports all weekend with successful hunters reporting good rut activity and unsuccessful hunters struggling ( go figure, some unsuccesful hunters were checking in with us at 8 am ???) unit 23 seemed to have the best rut activity and some really good bulls started coming in after the weekend and through today. Overall things are shaping up in all units and those of you heading back up this weekend should be EXCITED! Check out out website(www.southwesternprocessing.com) for photos of some if the better bulls from over the weekend. We will post more as soon as we get more photos from the field. There have been some great bulls killed this week! Good luck to everybody headed out & Thank You to everyone who dropped off elk already!
