pup help "updated with pics tj"

Recommended Posts

I have a 6 month old Brittany she listens well retrieves birds and points them but as soon as she gets in the water all bets are off she goes on a Marathon swim for 40 min and wont listen or come to me she acts like I'm not even there. What can I do to stop this but not make her afraid to go inthe water?

I dont have experience on this, as my dogs will still come back when I call them when they are swimming... But, Id try a 40+ foot check rope MAKE her come back on the command.

at 6 months old just let her have fun. she is still a pup, so dont expect her to follow everything to a T. let her just have fun, especially since this will be her first season, next season is when you should be real serious about her absolutely doing things to a T. that was the best advice i ever got from people and i can tell a difference

Thank god she likes water. Be patient with her for she is just a pup and like deserthntr said, don't rush her but Casey also had a good point with the leash. Give her a few more months and go to an e-collar. Best thing I ever did training my pup. When we going to see some pictures of her? :)

Just working on Here on a check cord and making learning fun little games right now is the key..

by making it fun know it will help Set the foundations now so when it comes time that final training it is more polishing
