peloncillo Report post Posted January 26, 2006 Josh Thats an incredible shed, if you didn't have the pics I'd call BS. Its going to be tough sleeping now with that buck running through my head. I've picked up a few sheds over the years but have never looked specifically for them, do you have any hints you can share such as best time to find them and where(bedding areas, trails, high or low)? GRONG Report post Posted January 26, 2006 Keven, All I can say man is just get out there and walk A LOT of miles and watch where you step. From what I've personally found is that finding a Coues shed is quite random up here in the northcentral part of the state. Down south it may be different. Just pay attn and imagine an antler just about everywhere you look. If you find one in an entire day I'd say you're doing ok.

peloncillo Report post Posted January 26, 2006 Thanks for the tips. It gives me even one more reason to get out there. If that buck is still out there do you figure he would keep getting bigger? Keven
GRONG Report post Posted January 27, 2006 We can only hope that deer is still running around!! I'm gonna try my best to pump the guy for the whereabouts of the deer cause I really don't think he's gonna try to find him. We'll see...... I can dream can't I? TLH Report post Posted January 28, 2006 You crack me up younghunter!! CG, no man that's actual 61" of score!! I'm guessing it was probably around 64" or so whole, it's just hard to say how long that 1st drop tine was. SCH, no man I couldn't say if anyone has seen him or not. If I'd seen the buck I wouldn't tell a soul and I'd have 10 trail cameras set out there! Hopefully he hasn't been processed by a lion yet either. Here's another look at those cheaters...... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I see you got connected Josh--Harold was asking if you got a chance to get your hands on this thing. Just a couple of ol' boys helping each other back to the truck due to weak knees from seeing Great Great Grandpa buck.
GRONG Report post Posted January 31, 2006 I talked with Scott Richey, the guy who found the shed, today and he was asking me about trail cameras and stuff. He seemed to be pretty excited about trying to find the deer this coming summer/fall. I sure hope he does, that deer deserves a good honest effort to find him. It'd be tough but the rewards of just getting him on a trail camera would be unreal!
russd Report post Posted February 1, 2006 3 trail cams ready here Josh, plus a trail movie cam. where do you want them?
BASS Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Just pay attn and imagine an antler just about everywhere you look. I tried that for the first time last year, man was I tired afterwards! Every stick was a monster rack, and every tree held a secret that was hidden away. I was more mentally tired than anything, but finding the next one pumps you up again.
