azgutpile Report post Posted September 23, 2011 My guess is that if he hit the bull up in the hump area and it didn't hit the spine, the bull probably lived. Would it be possible to be more specific on where the bull was hit?

chico Report post Posted September 23, 2011 Been watching this and thanks for reply from dblung. something to think on. I was in a company sponsored class on team building, seated at tables with 15-20 folks per row. 10-12 rows in room. Excercise was: person on farthest left was handed a short paragraph on sheet of paper , read it and lean over and whisper to person on right what you read. Continue until last person on right got message. Message repeated at end--not in sync with original paragraph from left side. Point being, hunter A and B know what happened and that's how it is. Best of luck on future hunts to all.
donniedent Report post Posted September 23, 2011 Couesnaz... I don't think anyone is eating crow today. Thanks to DL for posting the story. We heard both sides of the story and there are some major differences on the most important points. The points most of us have/had a problem with. Not my place to say who is misrepresenting things and I don't think we'll ever know. Which is fine. I will agree with DL on the most important point of the whole story, I too think that bull survive, unless someone else put an arrow in him. Hopefully he's a happy bull again, out there shooting his own arrows!
gearsnagger Report post Posted September 23, 2011 Typical trophy elk hunt! Typical internet mud slinging contest! Typical ending! Are you gonna kiss and make up now Nancys! Some day I hope to hear about and see pictures/video of some manly butt kickin on here! We need to go back to the dueling system for settling arguments and insults!Sounds like a bunch of politicians on here! You all just come on here to have your mouth posse back your mouthy slop lies! You really accomplished nothing on here! Meet up out in the woods and duel it out with weapons of choice or hand to hand like true men and make a video of it! Now that would be interesting! Talk is cheap get to it or shut the front door! Both of you have lost your man cards in my opinion!

couesnaz Report post Posted September 23, 2011 Well I think this will be my last post on this forum. Doublelung well said! Donniedent, maybe next time we talk it will be on a hunting trip....I only got on here to back people who I've hunted with my whole life, and know the type of hunters they are. Also to answer your question. No I would not pursue a animal I knew was hit. I would also be the first person to offer a hand in recovering the animal.....peace out. donniedent Report post Posted September 23, 2011 Hey, don't be a stranger! I'm a butthead sometimes but I respect you backing your buddy. I would have done the same thing. Like I've been saying, I am very concerned with where hunting is going and situations like this really get me going. Doesn't matter at this point who was right or wrong, the problem is that it happened and a bull got wounded and went un-recovered. That's the sad part of the story. I think he lived though which is good. Have a good one.

elkaholic Report post Posted September 23, 2011 At least we got the other 1/2 - no real comment other than , what happened to the bull? if trully a really high above the lung shot - he'll be back in action quickly. Can't see a bull that was really wanted, ignored and passed over. oh well - off to my hunt hope everyone got home safely. sure there are a ton of untold tales of woe hope mine is a freezer full and not tag soup.
