elkaholic Report post Posted September 19, 2011 since we need to pass a few days and keep something goin what is the general take on "posse" / "group" hunting? I'll put it in a primitve form ,and i hope no one takes too much offence It basically reminds me of a wolf pack. Spotters on every hill- using radio's , cell phones to communicate preys location is our modern day version
donniedent Report post Posted September 19, 2011 ***Note*** everyone should take a look at the new topic called "Whats going on in 10 this year" Interesting read. thanks for posting it Elkaholic. Whats my take on the posse/group thing? I don't really know what to think. The one thing I do know is if you need an army to hunt a bull elk, you're not much of a hunter in my book. Its another one of those things that isn't illegal but chickensh!t all the same. As for the radios, the only thing thats going to stop that is for G&F to make yet another law. I hate to say it because I think we have enough laws but when its abused by some it ruins it for everyone. Its really unfortunate because radios and cell phones can be good tools for staying safe and keepiing tabs on people you're hunting with but when guys are using them to guide people into animals... it should become illegal. It completely takes "fair chase" out of the equation. Its against the law in Wyoming to use a radio to aid in the taking of a big game animal and for some reason I thought it was here as well. I'll have to go back and look. If its not, it should be and if it is, G&F needs to have a more strict enforcement policy.
.270 Report post Posted September 19, 2011 if you use "any" electronic device any animal you shoot is disqualified from the p&y book. you can't even use lighted nocks on your arrows. radios do the same thing. i don't think radios should be against the law but they dang sure disqualify an animal from the book. and i would say that just every one of the governor tag animals we see had electronics involved in taking them. i don't know about gps's. but electric calls, radios, nocks, electric sights, all kinds of things, will technically disqualify an animal. Chef Report post Posted September 19, 2011 If anyone has issues with the way things are being handled as far as what is legal/illegal in Arizona, I suggest them getting involved with the powers that be in order to change things in the state. Speak with the AZGFD Commission and get things moving in the direction you think is best. Donnie, you have a good rifle tag in 10. If you change your mind about going, there are organizations I urge you to look at for possibly donating your tag/s. they can make a kids dream come true and really make a positive out of your dilemma. It's been quiet out there for some. I think the hunt was a bit early this year. The rut should be kicking in hard after the archery hunt is over. The early rifle guys are going to have fun. donniedent Report post Posted September 19, 2011 We'll still hunt. I'm not in any dilemma. I just don't to run into this kind of crap. Me and the woman will find some out of the way place to avoid all this kind of crap. Lark, I honestly don't want to see any more laws but if something is being abused, it needs to be dealt with. I have radios and always carry one but I don't use for hunting, just for safety. As far as animals going in the books... I absolutely agree. Problem is, some so called hunters have no problem being dishonest to get their bull in the books. Its a shame. I guess none of this will ever get any better. Just sucks. hoghntr Report post Posted September 19, 2011 Good luck with getting things sorted out. I, on the other hand, wore out my thesaurus trying to understand half of what was being said in the last few posts..... Bottom line, some hunters have twisted ideals on what is acceptable and what isn't. Someone posted earlier that as long as you spend time in units where older aged-class animals are being hunted (especially during the rut), you're going to run into this. Sad.... x2 on the thesaurus!! i guess im just glad i hunt for meat and enjoy the opportunity to spend time in Gods country and i am pretty sure no one or any group of guys wants the critters i end up chasing. if i was chasin a bull that was then shot by another hunter i would IMMEDIATELY stop my hunt and join with him on recovery mission if he would have me help ***even if it took the rest of my hunt!!!! And if i were a guide my client would have to settle with next best bull on my list (that's ethical guiding) and first i would ask client if he would like to help find bull and have opportunity to lay his hands on 400 class bull. elkaholic Report post Posted September 19, 2011 I've been hunting most of my life. Like most of us, it’s a family tradition. It’s great to get in the woods and hunting with family and friends. I've basically been DIY or DIBM (do it by myself) type hunts. Never hunted with an outfitter/guide and paid to locate an animal for harvesting/filling my tag. Sure I've been hunting with a group of friends. 9 times out of 10 times, they are hunting with tags to fill also. Lot's of times hunters have friends, who just want to go and help harvest an animal. This is all part of hunting. A group all together - working with the hunter, staying with the hunter is all part of the hunt, most likely family and friends. This is great - the more eyes to look and experience the hunt, and help the hunter locate something to shoot. It’s a little different when hunting turns to I or my client has got to kill the biggest, no matter what. When you “gang-up” and do anything and everything, to accomplish this goal.and cross the line from right to wrong. Doing things you might not normally do. Having friends, buddy’s, even family spread out all over the unit to find and relay information by radio, phone etc., is really pushing the limits to what hunting is suppose to be. when hunters and guides start to forget whats right and resort to ,interferring , intimidations with threats , vandalisum and even violence to others who are legally hunting -It's wrong We all hunt for different reasons. I go have some fun, enjoy our great state and hunting opportunities and tag a big one (hopefully). It’s not any fun when actions of others, sometimes unethical, give hunting a bad wrap, and ruin the experience. My hunt starts on the 26th. At this point it’s a DIBM. You bet it would be nice to have some help, even nicer to be able to afford a guide. Sure, it’d be nice to kill a 400class bull. But just like last yr., if it happens great but my goal/trophy is a freezer full of meat to feed my family. Good luck hunting for all those going and I hope you are able to enjoy the greatest experience of your life!

donniedent Report post Posted September 19, 2011 So what of he posted a link? That means nothing, I could have done that! Why don't you offer something to the discussion other than "Wait till my buddies get here, you're gonna be sorry!" You sound like somebody's snot nosed kid brother. What do you think about the influence of guides on hunting? What do you think about two hunters going after a wounded bull? If you know the whole story, did he in fact know the bull was wounded? This isn't a school yard and we're not scared of your big brother coming to beat us up! Offer something more than stories about crows please! And the crowd goes SILENT. So whats the deal COUESNAZ? Nothing constructive to offer? Nothing to say? I'd love to hear your opinion on the questions I asked you.
couesnaz Report post Posted September 19, 2011 You really don't want to know what I think....You guys just can't wait till the hunt is over.
richardoutwest Report post Posted September 19, 2011 archeryhuntingnut, you seem to speculate a lot! If one were to speculate, they could say that you are caelkhntr from monstermuleys who started this mess over there. Then jumped over here and posted the link to monstermuleys on his very first post. There are way too many similarities, style of writing, words used (confident, associates, speculate ect) its like reading a book without knowing the author, it doesn't take long before you know who wrote it. One could speculate that caelkhntr was told by tjwkings' crew to stop posting for the time being, which caelkhntr did on monstermuleys but could not leave well enough alone and started the fire here. Literally a few hours after caelkhntr stopped posting on monstermuleys, archeryhuntingnut starts the fire here with no introduction as to who he is and with a direct link to monstermuleys! Seems funny to me? If you are one in the same which one could speculate, starting wild fires is NOT COOL! archeryhuntingnut, you said: “I am not that familiar with that other site” / “I am not familiar with any of the parties” / “I am just a hunter who finds this issue interesting and the exchange of opinions on the issue says alot about our hunting community”/ “No I am not this fellow hunter you are referring to” Then how is it that you knew by post (no.1) what tjwkings meant? Nobody else did. He simply asked “Does anybody know who's licenses plate reads DBLUNG? They also have bowtech stickers on the front and back of a white chevy pick up.”? He does not mention anything about what was going on. Not one thing! Matter of fact, Monstermuleys forum does not mention anything about a white chevy truck with a licence plate that reads DBLUNG until post 45. on September 14, @ 2:42 p.m. Your very first post here on this forum was on September 14, @ 8:06 a.m. / 6 hours and 36 minutes before anybody else could possibly link the two being tied together from the two sites. So how is it if you are “not caelkhnter” who started this mess over on monstermuleys or “not familiar with the hunting parties” and “just a hunter who finds this issue interesting”, how is it that you knew this information 6 hours and 36 minutes before anybody else on the two forums just by reading them? Just don’t add up, not even if you used a time change! And to think I apologized to you and was giving you the benefit of the doubt! You said “I am not that familiar with that other site”, I will help you out, on the Monstermuleys forum, if you make an edit to a post, it will show the date and time the post was edited in red. I also have a copy saved to my computer.
