standman Report post Posted September 8, 2011 Back in August, I took my nephew and his wife camping up by Chevelon Canyon in 4A. On our last morning there I got up and opened the trailer door and there was a cow elk in camp. I was able to stalk to within 6 yards of her while my nephew was able to take pictures of me out the trailer door. She stayed in camp for 45 minutes. The last picture shows what she thought of my stalking abilities. Brian
Mrs125coues Report post Posted September 8, 2011 And if you had a Cow Tag, she would have bolted the second she heard that door open. They love to taunt us when it is not hunting season or if we dont have a tag!!
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted September 8, 2011 Last time I had a cow tag, I had a BULL run 15 yards out side of camp when I was making lunch... Heard it coming, had enough time to drop the bread, grab my rifle and chamber a round.... Too had she was a he!
Oak Report post Posted September 8, 2011 Wow, she's pretty scrawny looking. Is that normal down there?
standman Report post Posted September 8, 2011 Wow, she's pretty scrawny looking. Is that normal down there? I think it's just the camera angle because she looked in good shape the whole time we were watching her. Brian
