couesarcher7 Report post Posted September 5, 2011 Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone else is having bears attacking their cameras or if i just have an angry bear in my area. There is a cinnamon sow with a black bear cub that just recently broke my trail camera. the first time it messed with it it put a puncture hole in the motion sensor and in the light casing. the second time it just completely mauled it and it has not worked since. Brian Payne Report post Posted September 5, 2011 Welcome to the club. This is very common. Not sure whether camera thieves or bears are the biggest threat to trail cams. Something about the cams gets bears all curious and wound up and they love to mess with them. Back in the day of trail cams with 35mm film people used to say it was the smell of the film that attracted the bears but now that cameras have all gone digital the bears mess with them just as much. I think it is just something new and curious that maybe makes little noises and flashes and they think it is a new toy that someone has left there just for them. Rag Horn Report post Posted September 5, 2011 I lost two good trail cams and a pop-up blind to bears last year. The way they attacked my trail cam I figure the the best way to hunt bear is to hang a brand new trail cam out on a tree and wait. A bear will be along shortly to destroy your camera. Just kidding that would be baiting but seriously within days of putting up a trail cam it seems it has been torn down or messed with by bears.

They also got my blind by swatting it and snapped the rod to it. It is a good deer spot but im hesitant putting my new camera up there.
