I think that was Miller's. They had a trailer parked along the main road in Springerville and your meat was taken back to their processing plant in Queen creek. I am looking for something up there this year. I will be in unit 1 and dont want to drive down to sho low to drop off the meat..........Allen Taylor.......

AZBUCKEYE, congratulations on drawing an awesome Arizona elk tag, we are going to set up a receiving trailer near Springerville again this year, unfortunately we will only be open during the November bull & December cow hunts

( at least this year) there are processors in Springerville, I think one is called Rusty's and the other Hangin Tree. Best of luck on your hunt!

I used Rusty's last month to hang my cow elk until my son-in-law could drive up from Tucson to pick it up. He charged $7.50 a day, plus $50 to skin it and cut it up so it would fit in my son-in-law's ice chests. I'll use Rusty's again if I ever draw another tag.

Rusty always does a really good job. he's a good dude too. and he makes some really great salami and sausage and stuff if you like it. but what you do with if before you get it to the locker has more to do with the meat quality than what the butcher does after he gets it. skin em quick. if you can hang em, get out the ol' stihl and split em right then too. if you can't split it, cut the legs off and peel out the backstraps and split the neck down to the bone so that the heat can get out of it. and don't ever wrap one in plastic. even a big ol' rank bull is good eatin' if you do your part. Good Info thank you. I drive by Rustys place up there all the time just wanted to get a feel from the hunters what they thaught. You here so many horror stories about butcher shops I am confident I will need one just want it to be a good one

wehre is Rusty's? got any contact info?

Rusty's 928-333-3165

Rusty's processed a bull for me and did an outstanding job. Super clean, clearly marked, quick, and the price was very good. Funny I can't remimber his name but I am pretty sure it is not Rusty. The shop has been active forever, L. Sherwood ran it followed by G. West and then a few others.
