Cable rod broke

The cable rod on my diamond outlaw broke yesterday and my elk hunt starts at the end of this week. Although I have my dealer scrambling to get me one asap, are they interchangeable? Any suggestions on how to fix/remedy the problem if I can't get a new one in on time?

Did the cable rod break, or just the cable slide? Diamonds are notorious for their cable slides breaking. If it is the cable slide, you can buy them at Cabelas or a similar place. Should run you about $15 for a good upgraded replacement.

It's the rod, not the slide. It actually fell out somewhere in the field. I was more curious if rods are all the same, or if each brand/model is unique.
