HeathH Report post Posted August 29, 2011 When my dad found out that he got drawn for antelope the practice began. He started shooting his bow everyday from 20 to 110 yards. He has always been one to put his time in when he has a hunt. After several scouting trips he had an idea on were he wanted to hunt. Opening day came and found him sittin over a water hole for 14 hours with just a few small bucks coming in. Day two in the same blind with the same results. Sunday he took a break and rested. The following monday he started out in the blind with similar results in the morning so he set out on a walk about. At the end of the day and 14 miles later all he turned up out of 150 goats was a 14 inch buck. Being a little disapointed he made the decision to move to a new area which turned out to be benificial for him. He had found another water hole during his scouting trips and went to sit at that one on Tuesday. After 14 hours in the blind he walked out in the dark with a nice buck bedded close to the water hole. On Wednesday he sat there for about 12 hours with that buck from the day before never coming into range before it started to rain. Back at the truck he noticed a few does with a good buck bedded about 160 yards away. With no cover he walked straight at them. At 110 yards the buck stood up and gave my dad a quartering to shot. The shot was taken and found its mark entering right in front of the shoulder and coming out the back side of the opposite one. The buck went aboout 15 yards and expired. After all the hard work and hours of practice with his bow he was rewarded with a great buck. With a green score of 81 cant wait for the dry time in 60 days to get the official one.
