D.F.M. Report post Posted August 24, 2011 O.k. here's the question you have an animal deer ,elk whatever bedded down it's getting late and it doesn't look like the animal is going to get up before the legal shooting hour ends. Do you leave and try tomorrow? Do you make noise to try and get the animal up knowing there is a good chance it will just take off and you won't get a shot.Or do you shoot it while it is bedded down? Just thought I would throw that out there. Oh yeah this is a record book animal.

Chef Report post Posted August 24, 2011 All your answers are feasibly correct. If the animal is patterned and not under a lot of pressure, there is a good possibility it will be in the area again the following days. If you push the issue, as long as you take calculated risks and there is a better than average possibility of success, then you can try to get the animal to move. The last choice, shoot where bedded, has a very high success rate. Given the animal isn't aware of your presence, you have a clear shot, and time to set up.
