dudley Report post Posted August 23, 2011 I'm newer too bow hunting and have never successfully taken anything with my bow. i am 19 and due to wrestling i couldn't get out the past 5 years to do any true hunting. i really want to take a couse this year but really have no idea to hunt them. so just curious if any of you could give me a few pointers. last weekend i went up to the the workman creek area in 23, saw tons and tons of does. no bucks and even more hunters. i think i will head up there again. just curious to what you guys think is a good way to hunt them? any info or help will be greatly appreciated! If you have an open area there, you can try glassing to spot the deer and then try and stalk within shooting range. Hope you get one this year or at least have some close encounters. Chef Report post Posted August 23, 2011 You are definitely in a good area. Workman Creek holds quite a bit of deer, and lion.
dudley Report post Posted August 24, 2011 Thank you guys.. Yeah last weekend I saw 33 does. But not a single buck. Hoping for better wheather and better luck this weekend. About the lion, my friend who was with me actually had a lion jump a fence and come about 25 yards from him. Cruddy thing is he didn't pick up a tag. Mathews Report post Posted August 24, 2011 Easiest thing to do this time of year will be to find some water with a reasonable amount of tracks and set up a pop-up blind or build your own blind and....... wait.
bobbyo Report post Posted August 24, 2011 Can someone give exact directions to workmen's creek. That seems to be the type of place I like to hunt. Has anyone seen Gino or Coach there? Yes, lots of deer with monster bucks sounds like my type of place. Please put an X on the map for bobbyo.
ForkHorn Report post Posted August 24, 2011 As a fellow young bowhunter, I can say that scouting and getting away from roads will make the biggest difference. Putting in the time and effort makes for a better experience.

Lemon and the country South of Reddington Pass (unit 33) are where there are more deer and higher buck populations.... bobbyo won't share that with you however....
