WISH I was on the MOUNTAIN Report post Posted August 18, 2011 Hey I was wondering if I could get some pointers on scouting for my 24b hunt. I have heard that the Oct. hunt is normally overrun with hunters, which means one needs get deep into the mountains to get away from the crowd. I was wondering how early I should hope to glass up some bucks? I have a few areas I would like to try, but I am not sure when is the right time.

Yesterday was a good day to start....Im just playin! try to get out as much as possible...the bucks I have been seeing are growing slow this year i would say most of them are only about half to 3/4 grown, but you will know if he is a shooter. If you find them now, they will be near the same place on opening day in October 75% of the time. After opening day, they may move a bit or go nocturnal depending on the hunting pressure. Good luck! nohoch Report post Posted August 18, 2011 There are no bucks in 24B....... I've been searching that unit for years now and let me tell you, it's empty. Sorry for your luck drawing that tag I've got the early Oct hunt there as well. Just get out and beat the bushes. There are plenty of deer all over that unit. Hey depending on what side your going to hunt could make the difference,I just drove up to Rogers Trough to where the fire burned up to and really didnt notice any signs of life im not saying their not there but most of those hills that burned have very little cover let alone food so ya beating the bush is prob a good thing, infact we are headed out again tomorrow.... We just got back from up by the lakes and for the fourth trip nothing! so i hope you do better than us
