CouesWhitetail Report post Posted August 17, 2011 Jay Lopeman of Mossback AZ sent this in and asked me to post it. WOW! What a bull. Congratulations to Pete Shepley on his new trophy. Although Pete is known world-wide as an archer, he ended up harvesting this bull with a 7mm mag with Barnes bullets. Jay says Pete hunted 63 days in the field and for the most part was hunting with his bow until the end when Jay asked him to carry both a gun and bow. Pete passed on an absolute monster bull on the third day of his hunt at 25 yards. he finally shot this bull toward the last day of his hunt. What a trophy. FYI - Pete won this tag in the Big Game Super Raffle!! (please keep the thread positive....if you want to debate the merits/faults of special commissioners tags, please open another thread for that)
Brian Payne Report post Posted August 17, 2011 What an absolute giant! Congrats Jay and Mossback. Antler growth does not appear to be stunted much by the dry year from what we are seeing so far.

couesdiehard Report post Posted August 17, 2011 I remember seeing Paul Shepley Jr of Tucson won that 2010 raffle tag and wondered if he was Pete's relative. Guess I know better now, it's the same guy. Hey whatever name the man signed on that tag, that is one awesome bull! Congrats to the hunter, the guide, the super raffle organizers, and the people and wildlife of the state of Arizona who will all benefit from the auction.
