Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 14, 2011 If you already have a good pack, you might consider getting the Kifaru Universal Gun Bearer. http://kifaru.net/gunbearer_hunt.html

yote sniper Report post Posted August 16, 2011 I am wandering what others use for a backpack that will hold their rifle? I know some go with the Eberlestock but lets face it, Im not sure I want to drop that much money into a pack. Is their any other packs that are less in value, but maybe just as good? -Ryan Take a look at kifaru packs they make hunting packs and military packs I believe their site is kifaru international Ireally like mine it's a "zulu" they have a system called a gun bearer for attaching your rifle to in my opinion dont skimp on a cheap pack they hurt your back and shoulders sort of like wearing cheap hunting boots not good ! If your going to invest in a pack do it right instead of 2 or 3 times and spend even more money also kifaru packs offer what they call suspension packages depending on what you want for comfort a buddy of mine has used his in Alaska " Brooks range" last August and said it made all the difference they also have a lot of neat stuff to offer backpackers and for the military check them out
jamaro Report post Posted August 16, 2011 I have tried a ton of them... and I ended up going with a Osprey... Atmos 50.... it is really the best pack I have ever used... Light, Strong, Fits Well and is a packing BEAST.... i think packs are a very personal thing the best thing you can do is try a ton and don't worry about name brand or anything other than how it works for YOU... Santana Outdoors Report post Posted August 17, 2011 Have you ever drove a truck without power steering? To me that is having a backpack without a built in scabbard like Eberlerstocks packs. You can strap your rifle on most other packs but you have to take your pack off to get to your rifle. Eberlestock have designed their packs so you can access your rifle from the scabbard while the pack is on your back. This allows you to feel more comfortable about putting your rifle away while hunting. Today's western type hunting you need your hands free for glassing, not holding your rifle all day or trying to keep your rifle on your shoulder with a pack on. Also, with the built in scabbard when you take your pack off and set it down your rifle and scope is protected. If you haven't tried one you need to. Good luck. luvdemcoues Report post Posted August 17, 2011 Ok... so I'm totally sold on Badlands customer service and warranty. However, I dislike how often their zippers break. Then you have Eberlstock that has a similar warranty but supposedly crappy customer service. I am looking for a backpack that will hold enough stuff for a one day deal, plus have space for pack out and I really want to have a spot for my tripod. I am looking at the Eberlsock Halftrack. Any other suggestions.

TAM Report post Posted August 18, 2011 It aint cheap but anyone that hunts the west the way most of us hunt for coues should take a serious look at the Outdoorsmans pack's. Strong, comfortable, and can carry all your stuff plus a cut up deer. Pretty sure they are a sponsor of this site as well. Good luck!

I really like the Eberlstock packs but was worried about their customer service (at least some of the stories I've heard). Yes, it would be just a day trip, carrying either a bow or rifle plus my tripod.
