mp_moody Report post Posted August 13, 2011 what kind of call did you use, how long were you calling before he came in? And were down in that canyon when you were calling? Or up on top and he ended up down there? Started the stand in the dark and the bear showed up on the run at about the one hour mark of calling. Shot was cross canyon at 300 yards and culminated with a spectacular swan dive off of a cliff to the bottom of the canyon below....then the work began! You called for an hour? That is some dedication! What sound were you using?
AZLance Report post Posted August 13, 2011 For bears the usuall calling set up will last from 45 min to a hour and a half. Any predator call can be used, but try and imitate a fawn bleat... Bears will most of the time come slow and steady, if you stop calling they stop coming. There are the rare times that they come fast and hard, it usally sounds like a freight train coming thru the forest.
