kennyazman Report post Posted August 2, 2011 I was at cabelas today picking up some arrows and as i was looking around i saw an antelope call that primos makes. ive heard of some people having some success with this and it wasnt very expensive so i bought it. Im definately open to all kinds of techniques to get my first antelope and i know im probably going to be doing a little of everything to get one(spot and stalk, sitting water, and now im going to try calling). i was just curious what kind of experience you guys have had with calling antelope for an archery hunt. does it work? when are the best times to use it? Thanks.
DesertBull Report post Posted August 2, 2011 Most people use it with a decoy. There is a pretty good video on the technique, but I can't remember the name of it. It's probably 20 years old, at least. I think Dutton is the last name of the guy that made the video.

matthewp45 Report post Posted August 2, 2011 I have used it in 19A a ton of times. The one hunt I used it on they were rutting out of control and the call would either have them look your way to notice the decoy in front of you or not even pay one bit of attention to it when the big bucks had their big harem. The one time I had it kind of work was when I ran into a buck with his nose to the ground walking out about 300 yards from me. I blew the call twice and he came straight at me.walked in to 50 yards and I had hardly any cover. As he walked behind a clump of bear grass I drew and he saw me and hauled buns. I would bring it along and try it out for sure. Good Luck.
shortpants Report post Posted August 3, 2011 Are there any brands that are better than others. I saw one that Eastmans was promoting I think it was called a "calls 'em all" and made 3 different sounds. The video showed a guy making a humming sound with it and he used it to calm a wary buck down. Seemed like it worked well but you know they always do in the video's.
