what type of scent control do you guys use

Recommended Posts

All the scent loc stuff is bull shi$$ and the spray is just as worthless in my opinion. They are making alot of money off of you guys that believe in it and good for them cause they are smarter than you guys that use the worthless junk. The charcoal clothing and boots are a joke. I don't believe in any of that stuff. Most of my kills are under 15yrd and it's not because of any of that crap. That utra violet crap that makes your cloths disappear can't convince me one bit. You ever had a deer tell you they see the difference? Heck no! Take a bath and keep your hunting cloths in a bag with whatever vegetation you're hunting in like pine needles, oak leafs, or just plain dirt. Wear camo that matches your area and wear dark clothing in a ground blind. I do wash my cloths in baking soda. Step in every deer or elk poop on your way to the stand and rub some in your cloths. Most of the heat will pass thru your head when you get hot so smear some poop in your hair as well. I just love the pretty boys who show up in my camp with everything in place and say they can't get close to any game. Go figure! If you are using a blind with alfalfa or corn then I suggest you place a flake up against your inside window and open a bag of corn in your blind as well. I had an elk try to get in my blind with me sitting in it a couple years ago and I had the window completely open. Most of my shots are under 15yrds as I stated earlier. The biggest thing is the wind. If it's in your favor with everthing else I mentioned then you got the hunting Gods on your side. IMO :)

1st: wind

It isn't always easy to get the wind right, especially in a blind. Ive tried scent lock base layers, sprays, scent wafers, stashin my clothes in the woods before I put em on, special detergents. I'm sure all of it can, and will, help some. Most if the time in my experience, nothing beats good wind. When I'm goin into a blind I try not to sweat too much either, get up early and go slow.

+1

i used to buy into that stuff a while ago then gave it up after i had elk 30 feet from me in clothes that i had on at camp, slept in sweated in, cooked in the trailer in, probably had some skid marks in, but i had the wind right. I do use laundry soap that is unscented though due to my allergies.

wind is key! It is strictly impossible to be scent free. Take some precautions with gas or cooking food. I will break off small branches of creasote in desert, cedar if around, or pine and i crush with my hands a little bit and rub underarms, crotch, and whatever else feels good by doing that. If there is spray for super cheap I might pick some up. If you want to go to extremes though and be scent free spend a ton of money and get the scent free camo, the gum, the pills, soap, shampoo, detergent, spray, wipes, waffers, the socks, shoes, gloves, face mask, beanies, hats, undergarments, and after you do that get a custom made hazmat suit in your favorite camo and your set. I don't think hunting in that plastic bubble would be too bad at all. If it gets muddy and dirty thats ok cause its cover scent too. Plus you never have to worry about you getting dirty or bloody cause thats gross. Good luck
