125coues Report post Posted July 11, 2011 Just wanted to let everyone who will be hunting or camping in the Kaibab forest to know about the road closures and camping area closures.The Kaibab forest service has put out a map showing the only roads that are open for driving a vehicle on and these are the only ones we are allowed to use.They will only allow you to travel up to 1 mile off these roads to retrieve a downed elk.Thats 1 vehicle 1 trip. they also will only allow you to camp no more than 30 feet off a opened road.I would suggest if you are going to be hunting or camping in the Kaibab any time soon to get one of these maps at thier office.They will not be putting up any road closed signs they expect all users of the forest to know these new rules. Thanks Mark for the information. If they are serious about all users to know the new rules then they are just idiots if they are not going to put up any road closed signs. Private property owners have to post their land every 1/4 mile so what gives them the right to not post road closures? This is going to be interesting. B ) Just cuz you can't get your rig to your elk does not mean you can't get it out... God gave us backs and legs... if you don't wanna pack it... don't shoot it. C) If you really wanna be mad at someone...(and yes I get very mad when Big government takes more of my freedoms)...then call out the abusers when you see them... call out those who leave trash all over... call out those who drive cross country for no other reason than being lazy... These Jack Wagons ruin it for everyone... and they think they are entitled to what every they please. billrquimby Report post Posted July 11, 2011 Unfortunately, similar rules are being prepared for the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. They've already had a comment period, or so I've heard. Take a look at the current map for the ASNF and see if your favorite primitive road is there. Chances are very good that it is not.
