Well I was just heading out today to go back up and set up camp and then be in my treestand in the morning but my Dad called me this AM and said he was on a huge lion track. I got out there quick and it was quite the chase. About 3 or so we finally got the lion. You talk about OLD!!! This sucker was tore up bad! Probably from another tom lion, he had serious cuts and tears in him, puncture marks in his back and chest. His right eye was all tweaked and he had a gaping hole in his right thigh. This dude had seen better days thats for sure.

Can't exactly say that's a "pretty " cat, but it's a cat nonetheless! You guys obviously have some great dogs, keep up the good work! Congrats to you guys! JIM

You guy's stop talking about Josh like that. I can tell by the photo he is still a young man. :)

Glad you put that lion down. Poor thing would have not made it much longer. He most likley got caught with his hands in some other lions kill. I dought he was up to much hunting of his own.

How long was the hunt.

Shiras that was funny!

The hunt lasted from mid-morning till about 3:30 or so. The thing tried running up the side of a freakin STEEP mountain face but turned, crossed a creek and ran up another slope where I think his give-a-shitter just wore the heck out! He'd been treed for a while before we could all catch up and get there.

Josh

Have you ever had a hunter not involved with your chase shot a cat either before you got there or when the dogs are chasing him.

No thank goodness!! There would be a serious problem if that happened seeing that our hunters are paying a lot of money to hunt lions with us. I hope that never happens!

It happened to my Uncle Bobby Reeves a long time ago. And me and a buddy could have shot one in a canyon up from CV back in Dec 2003. We were watching some coues (three of only 32 coues in 6A) and the dogs chased that cat within about 100 yards of us; it was hard not to pull the trigger but we thought agianst it real quick. And thanks for finding out Larry's last name it drove me crazy trying to remember.

Cat looks like he's still suffering from New Years eve. As dry as it's been the last 3 months, your dad must have some good dogs.
