codyhuntsaz Report post Posted July 5, 2011 My dad is having a cabin built and also has a bull at the taxidermist. He was waiting to see what the wall dimensions at the cabin would be to tell the taxi what pose to mount the bull in. he has the wall dimensions now and would like to go with a standard pose. my question is, how much wall/roof clearance do you nee for a mature bull. bull is a 6x6 48" wide with 51" main beams...365" total. how tall (ballpark) will the mount be from the bottom of the chest to the highest point of the rack?? AZBob Report post Posted July 5, 2011 I've got a bull with almost identical dimensions that is right at 6' from the brisket to the top of the rack.
gotcoues Report post Posted July 5, 2011 I also have a 365 gross bull and he is 6ft with the head slightly lowered (54" main beams)
robertramsey61 Report post Posted July 5, 2011 I would say to make the bull look good, you need a 12 foot cieling, but a 10 foot would work but 12 is better.

Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted July 6, 2011 I'd say min. 65 inches of clearance, I have 12' walls with a vault to 18'6" at the peak and all the "alert" bulls we have on the wall hung just above window top (82 inches) and extend beyond the 12' walls and the relaxed bull is right at 12'... When I design and build my next house I'll go with 16" flat ceilings I think... BTW... any "game room" will be more user friendly if you sheet the interior walls with 3/4" Ply wood before you sheetrock. FYI... I'll sell your Dad my place... then he will have no problem with any of his futer mounts.... I designed and built our living room with the mounts in mind and we love it! ...Or if he is looking for a builder I'd be happy to help him out as well. codyhuntsaz Report post Posted July 6, 2011 well the cabin is framed and sheet rocked, but the builder used the wrong pitch trusses. the clearance above the window he plans to hang it over has 78" or 6'6" of clearance. it looks like a ton of room, but the taxi told him that the mount would be 6'6" tall. i just cannot believe that so i was hoping to get a variety of opinions maybe even from a taxi on here.....on a side not this is a problem i someday wish to have.
