ragu Report post Posted June 29, 2011 Check out the story of these two Texas brothers and their many trophy Whitetails. It really is shocking and I don't have much to say about it except that is really too bad people like this exist. http://raguoutdoors.wordpress.com/2011/06/28/big-time-poachers-busted/
joeeden Report post Posted June 29, 2011 I agree with some of the comments that the punishment seems awfully light. But to hear folks demanding that their hunting licenses be taken away puzzles me. First off, I can only assume that they will be. But are we to believe they would not poach again because well, shoot, they don't have a license. That should go a long way towards discouraging this behavior. They are poachers! More fines and more time IMHO.
whiteeye Report post Posted June 29, 2011 "But are we to believe they would not poach again because well, shoot, they don't have a license." Great point Joeeden. That just like the idiots that say we need stricter gun laws so there will be less gun violence. Criminals don't buy their guns at the local gun shop...... Coach Report post Posted June 29, 2011 Where in the world did they come up with the $70K fine? These guys made between $120 and $300K just for the 60 hunts they got busted for. They're lucky I wasn't in charge of the sentencing. They'd be spending 20+ years in jail and owe the state about $1M each.
.270 Report post Posted June 29, 2011 good night, what a couple o' idiots. you seldom see anybody get prison time over poaching. glad these morons did. i've heard they treat child molesters bad in the joint, wonder how they are on poachers? well, glad they caught em. too bad it went on as long as it did. ragu Report post Posted June 29, 2011 "Wildlife officials are continuing to investigate the case and could charge some of the clients involved. Both brothers are appealing their sentences." Here's a quote I didn't think much about. Though many clients may have been misled, let's face it. Some were not and knew exactly what they bought. I wonder who else will be brought down.
