couesobsession Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Hey all, I will be going to the lower Salt river this week with a friend and his kids to catch some trout. The AZGFD says they're stocking em below Stewarts Dam this week. Where, exactly, can they be found? Specific directions would be helpful. I need a specific spot where they're concentrated not just on the lower salt. That's 11 miles if river. I would appreciate it if anyone with knowledge could offer me this info. Also, will spinners and crankbaits work ok? What techique is best. PM me if you like so we don't look like a bunch of boobs catching rock s only . Thanks. AZLance Report post Posted June 25, 2011 I used to catch them anywhere from where the tubers get in the water to the bridge. Castmasters seemed to work the best. Used to limit out. Also pulled a 6 pound largemouth out of there using a small crankbait behind my tube.

AZLance Report post Posted June 25, 2011 I believe it was 1/4 and I found that the gold worked on cloudy days, and the silver worked best on clear days...
silencedmajority Report post Posted June 26, 2011 I've always done really well with 1/8th gold kastmasters. I've caught the most trout after stockings either near blue point bridge or the phon d sutton recreation area. At phon d sutton, a splitshot sinker and small hook with a night crawler tossed into some small rapids has gotten me limits too. Good luck and have fun!
