forget the legislature-send the bill and all future ones to jan brewer. the first governor to sign fireworks legalization in arid-zona. my mom-may she rest in peace- said she'd kick the butt of any governor that signed it. it came up to the governors desk about ever 6 years and they vetoed it every time. guess gov jan doesn't know any firefighters....

Blaming fireworks for fires is like blaming spoons for Rosie O'Donnell being fat... Cigaretts thrown from car windows start more fires each year than fireworks here in AZ.

lightning starts most of em by far. but the fact that prescribed burns, smokes, camp fires, arsonists, lightning, spontaneous combustion, etc starts a lotta fires doesn't make up for the fact that fireworks in Az is a real stupid thing. even if it is legal. a house got set on fire in glendale the other day by legal fireworks set off by guys with a permit to do it. i've set offa buncha firecrackers in my day. i love em. but there ain't no way in heck i'd light one right now, not even in my yard. i don't understand how it can be legal to sell em and own em and but not be legal to set em off? and i really don't understand how anybody can think they're a good thing in this state, especially when we're up against what we are in years like this. i know a buncha ranchers in colorado that won't let ya on their place with a gasoline engine pickup because of the fires caused by the cat convertors. lotsa fires are started by other stuff too, but that is one thing that is completely preventable. just like setting off fireworks. if ya don't do it, it takes away one of the variables. i dare anyone to go to greer or alpine and set off some roman candles right now. even if it is legal. or go to luna new mex, where they are completely legal, and do it. i dare ya. The legislature passed this last year with only ground effects types and sparklers. They gave the Cities and Towns the right to preclude their jurisdictions from legal use. When we did our Ordinance in Cave Creek one of the lobbyists came and spoke against our ordinance. It passed 7-0 so fireworks are not legal in any form in Cave Creek. But the confusion created by selling them openly and legally is gonna make a lot of people think they're ok anywhere. The fireworks lobby went back to the legislature this session 2011 and tried to take the right of preclusion from Cities and Towns. Thankfully that effort failed. I guess the Fireworks Lobbyists never heard of the Cave Creek Complex fire or just don't care. We still remember our fire very well. Another example of campaign funds trumping common sense. This is why it is so important to do your homework and vote in every election, especially primaries. There are way too many people making decisions that are just plain dumb. If the candidates don't have two neurons to rub together for crying out loud don't vote for them!

Just took the kids down the street to the fireworks stand and bought $100.00 worth of fireworks. The guy at the stand says his sales have been thru the roof, and he was re-ordering because of low quanities. Cant wait to have some good ole' fashioned fun!

So now the cities and towns are making it illegal to shoot them off in town. Hmmmm Where will they go? the desert? the forest? Stupid just seems to be all around.

It doesnt matter if its illegal in the cities they will still light them. I have a lot of young kids on my street lighting them and I have yet to see a cop in the neighborhood trying to enforce the law on fireworks.
