They said they thought that with the repairs made in 2005 the dam will survive the monsoon-the spillway design was improved. biglakejake Report post Posted June 22, 2011 just to clarify...after rodeo black canyon creek flowing through heber looked like the colorado river at parker. and the Little Colorado River at Winslow got up to a mile wide. a mile. wide. i don't think the LCR above river res dam has nearly as much watershed but boy 'n girls that crick is gonna swell some. lee Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
billrquimby Report post Posted June 22, 2011 More than a few officials are worried that the Greer Valley and South Fork will be see major flooding next month. In fact, residents were told at a briefing last night that we might have to evacuate again, depending upon this summer's rains. Our cabin sits on a ridge about 30-40 feet above the Little Colorado, so it should be OK, but I wouldn't be surprised if Main Street and a bunch of cabins along the river are flooded. The road into Greer crosses the river twice, and if either of the two bridges (or both) go, we could be stranded on the wrong side of the river for a while.
