Chimichanga Report post Posted June 21, 2011 I'm going with mechanical head this august and was wondering if anyone has shot the NAP bloodrunner 2 blades? If so how did they shoot compared to field tips and how did they shoot out at further yards, say 50,60, and beyond. I like the hybrid fixed/mechanical design behind it but I don't know if that makes it shoot similar to a fixed head. I'm going to get some practice heads and start testing but I wanted to know if you guys have some useful insight. thanks in advance. chimi
Elkhunter1 Report post Posted June 21, 2011 I have no experience with this head, however you should try the Swhacker head. It flies like a field point even out at extreme ranges like 80-120 yards. It was designed for Elk and will perform beyond your expectations. You can get them at www.hankparker.com I'm going with mechanical head this august and was wondering if anyone has shot the NAP bloodrunner 2 blades? Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted June 21, 2011 A buddy of mine shot a buck at 20-25 yards with one in January... Clean pass through and the buck made it about 60 yds... We processed & wrapped 7 deer in January for varrious family and friends and the wound from that blood runner was by far the worst trauma I have ever seen from any head...like the buck had been hit with a ax on Both sides. Can't tell you about down range use tho...
cramerhunts Report post Posted June 21, 2011 I am going to use this head during my archery elk hunt this year. I have been shooting it for the last couple months with great results out to 70 yds so far. They are grouping and flying right with my field tips. I have not used them on any game yet but here is some of a post about them made earlier by COOSEFAN. My brother killed several deer and 8 or 9 hogs in TX last year using the NAP Bloodrunners and some of the pics he sent me were very graphic! He had great luck with them. He and I also used them to kill our Coues bucks and several pigs in MX last Jan. and my deer went 80 yards and his went about 150 with a bad hit but both were recovered with great blood trails. I really like the Bloodrunners becuase even if they don't expand they are still cuttin' like any other fixed blade head....but if they expand (and we haven't had one not exapand) they make a serious entrance hole! Chimichanga Report post Posted June 21, 2011 Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to order a couple practice heads online and see how they work with my set up, I'm getting my bow back today from Bull Basin in Tucson.. I hope I can get similar results out to 70 yards. Chimichanga Report post Posted July 5, 2011 Finally got to shoot the bloodrunners and I'm liking them. Shoot good out to 50 yards so far. Once I sight my bow in further I will try it out to 70.
COOSEFAN Report post Posted July 6, 2011 I still love those Bloodrunners and will be using them this year for deer in AZ, TX, and MX and I can't wait! They always cut, deployed or not and they are very sharp and strong. What has impressed me the most was the fact they expand fast enough to create some serious entrance holes and still have great penetration. I put one completely through the ribs on a huge broadside Hog and I feel there is no tougher animal, at least in the U.S., to get an arrow to pass thru on! There are other great heads out there but the Bloodrunners are my favorite, at least for now! JIM>
Chimichanga Report post Posted July 7, 2011 Hopefully I get the chance to test them out on a deer come august. Me friend has an early bull tag in 27 this year and was planning on using rages. This past weekend we went out and I let him shoot my bloodrunners. He is now considering them for his hunt even though he already has 3 packs of rages. You can't beat the hybrid design if the bloodrunners. They offer the best of both worlds. AM
Will K Report post Posted July 9, 2011 I ordered some Thursday to try. Some reviews say they whistle during flight. Have you guys experienced this during use?
Chimichanga Report post Posted July 9, 2011 I haven't noticed a whistle while shooting them so far. I'm headed out to the range this afternoon so I will be sure to listen for any whistling. I'll let you know how it goes AM.
Will K Report post Posted August 2, 2011 Do these heads lock back when they hit there mark or do they spring back open to original position after impact?
Chimichanga Report post Posted August 2, 2011 They return to their original position. They do however stay deployed while passing through
Will K Report post Posted August 2, 2011 Thanks. I thought they may have been defective. Will K.
Mathews Report post Posted November 23, 2011 Shot a Bull last weekend with these. 50 yards, quartered away, hit a little back angled into where it should be, great shot, no more than 6'' of penetration.. Blood was decent, but after almost 10 hours over a couple miles the bull was no longer bleeding and appeared alive and well. Wasnt impressed and rather sad actually.. considering it would have been my first archery bull.. Needless to say I wont be using the bloodrunners anymore.
