Casey,it looks to me that you always have a dilemma on what to take hunting,I'll try to make your dilemma a lot easier............give me your 270 (I'll take it as a birthday present) and use the .243 for javelina. You'll have one less rifle to worry about next time you go out to hunt.

If you chose any other caliber such as 7MM or 30-30 or your 270wsm make sure you hit them right on the head.....otherwise you'll have nothing left to eat.

Ernesto, sorry but that 270 aint goin anywhere! it was my granddads then my dads now mine! the .40 is my hand gun. the 7mag is a virgin and the wsm only has a 3"spike under its belt. man this is tough! dad has a new 22-250 to the collection and that is what he will carry.

A rubber mallet, since you can walk right up to those little rats. I love getting 5-10 yards away from them when I shoot em with my bow. David

That rubber mallet is a good idea! Hit the pig on the head and then hit your shoulder as hard as you can. :D Hit it once for the 243, twice for the 270, and thre times for the magnums.

With that dilemma, I'd take a psitol or the .30-30. The worst that can happen is you don't have a Javalina to clean and eat. :)

Whatever you take, enjoy it.

See Casey, aren't you glad you asked? Everyone really helped with your decision didnt' they? Seems like you got as many answers as guns you have available

But actually everyone (except Lark) had some good suggestions. I love javelina meat, Lark. I take it you don't share my enthusiasm for it??

Just got a Ruger Redhawk D.A. .44 that would be perfect. The Blackhawk S.A. just wasn't fast enough for me  .....so I'd have to wear that on the left hip

Go handgun or bow. -Shiras
