My Boy's first harvest and taxidermy project.

Recommended Posts

This is my boy's first successful hunt and he wanted to mount it himself....first as a lifesize but then decided to rug it.

He will be entering it the Youth class at the Taxidermy show this weekend. He is 9yrs old.

That is awesome. Those squirrels are cool looking. I wish I would of whacked a couple before I left AZ. Our tree rats don't look that good in VA.

Your son did a great job. Never seen a squirrel rug before. Good luck to him in the competition. :)

That turned out amazing! I love the black color for the backing, it really shows the white fur of the belly. I am extreamly impressed that a nine year old was able to do that. Looks like it runs in the family. :o

The black trim is suede and he cut strips and used his sisters sewing machine on the "ruffle" setting to make the edging. He had lots of ups and downs with this project , and is thrilled with all the compliments.

Good luck in the competition.

The rug format really shows the coloration of the Abert very well, much more than with a full body mount, imo.
