AZ RANGER Report post Posted May 30, 2011 I am leaving in the morning to take my 3 boys fishing and camping up in alpine. We will be there until Friday. We usually Camp near Luna and then make day trips from there over to the other lakes. Does anyone have any recent information on hot spots? Last year we caught all we wanted and had a blast I'm hoping for a repeat. Also thinking about fishing on the reservation a little too if anyone has fished anything there lately. Thanks A Pic from last year
Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted May 31, 2011 We fished a windy Nelson Lake Saturday evening, caught about 10 fish in an hour trolling peacock ladys and brown woolyworms. Watched a bunch on the bank catching alot of fish on the far side across the dam. The adults stayed pretty busy keeping the kids reeling them in, I had more fun watching them than I did catching fish myself. Good luck, let me know how your trip goes, headed back up there in a week we hope.

azpredator@work Report post Posted May 31, 2011 Several of us went up to reservation lake and it was great fishing there. Nothing with any size, but I was catching 50+ fish / day. Power bait, worms and small #0 mepps spinners all worked very well. Good luck.....
couesobsession Report post Posted May 31, 2011 Those are some beautiful fish that you and youre friends caught AZpredator. Do I spy a couple of browns in there too? You may say they didn't have much size, but those fish look to be all in th 11-14 inch range! I've had some luck at woods canyon on rooster tail spinners recently, spinners work very well all over AZ, especially when the sun is shining.
Pine Donkey Report post Posted June 1, 2011 The fishing has been very good this past week, but the wind has been horrible. Both Luna and Crecent have been producing a lot of 15 inch plus fish. Nelson and Big Lake have been hot with 8 to 10 inch fish. Powerbait and worms work well, but more important is the correct setup. Here is a picture of some friends catch Sunday afternoon. Good luck!
