Drive up HWY 89, park your truck and start walking or start glassing and you will see plenty of Deer. The hard part is finding an area that doesn't get pounded during the season. Just because you don't see anyone while your scouting does NOT mean they won't be there during the season. 22 can be a mad house for the first couple of day's. Stay above 3000 feet, look at the rim:)

In my opinion 22 is the best all round unit in the state. It has been good to me. Good luck with the draw. :)

22 can either be way good to you or kick your butt. In the past 4 years i have killed 2 small bucks and a 6x6 bull. Get out and go when the quads and people wont ;)

22 has been my favorit unit for a long time , just tuffer to hunt these days with all the deer and elk tags that fish and game give for the unit I wish they would cut back on the 22N bull elk tags, and the coues deer tags, I rember when 22N & 22S used to be combined as one on the Dec bull elk hunt with about 200 tags and the rifle coues deer hunt was a Dec hunt only with around 170 tags , compare that to todays number of tags and they have 3 times that amount of tags today. With that said we killed 12 coues from 90" to 120" in the past 8 years and filled are tages every time and 3 bull elk from 300 to 368 . Just get to now it and get out away from were you can get any moterised vehicle and glass.

They DID cut back the # of tags for bulls in 22n this year. My son drew back to back tags so I spent a lot of time scouting the unit the last couple years. I've never heard so many complain about the number of tags and the low quality of hunt as 22 rifle bull (early or late). You will get out of a hunt what you put into it. In my opinion the cut in tags was not necessary as the bulls were located as easily as the hunters riding around on quads and making quater mile circle hunts.

The coues in the unit are spectacular. I don't rifle hunt, but my son drew a general tag his first year. We had many opportunities on 80" bucks and one 100"+. It's not hard to find areas to hunt by yourself if you start walking. Glass, glass, glass and good luck.....
