azpredator@work Report post Posted May 19, 2011 This 5x6 has hung out in the same canyon since last November and has been with another 4x5 bull every time I saw him or got him on camera. Now, he is hanging out with this "button" bull and the 4x5 hasn't crossed any camera since mid-december...? With binoculars @ 60 yards it looked like his antlers were cut off. Can't tell as much with trail cam pics, but I figured it was pretty interesting. The "button" bull has a large body just like the 4x5 had as well. Here are some bulls that are starting to develop. Enjoy...

WHALE Report post Posted May 20, 2011 Nice pics, gets me thinking about Nov. again. Did you or your boy get a tag this year?
missedagain Report post Posted May 20, 2011 LOL, I don't think anybody sawed off his antlers. My guess is that the 4x5 that you were seeing was this same bull before he shed, and the bull that is starting to grow could be this same bull 4 weeks later. Thanks for sharing. Guest super jumbo Report post Posted May 20, 2011 Seeing those antlers starting to bloom for this years jousting match (man vs. bull elk) gets the old ticker rumbling again. Thanks for posting them.
COOSEFAN Report post Posted May 20, 2011 Yeah, I'd bet money that "button" bull is the 4x5 you speak of. The only reason he's a "button" bull is because he dropped his antlers, probably less than a week prior to your photos, and is now growing his new set. His antlers were probably laying not far from your cam too! JIM>
azpredator@work Report post Posted May 23, 2011 WHALE - no tags for us quite yet. We only have hopes for Nm left. Thanks for asking. I guess I should have mentioned this bull had the same stubs in January. He couldn't have shed them that early. I never paid much attention to him or any of his pics until I saw "close-ups" in the binos. Just seemed strange, but elk are pretty mysterious. I can't wait until we start seeing some fully developed racks out there! Good luck to everyone....
