Outdoor Writer Report post Posted June 20, 2011 Wow, what a super day! Thanks again to Lance and Carrie -- and everyone else who pitched in -- for a super time in the cool pines from Ellen and me. The weather was fantasic, the food was tasty (especially the smoked buffalo) and the people and dogs were great fun. Hershey told me he would like to thank everyone as well for making him a welcome addition to the annual gathering. He said he really enjoyed meeting so many new friends, both the two and four-legged kind. He would have posted here sooner, but he was really, really exhausted from all of the playtime. He slept all the way home, and after he ate his dinner, he crashed on his dogie bed for the night. Anyway, he sends a big wuff-wuff to everyone. Oh, and now he insists that I buy him a tennis ball. I have a couple pix and will post when I get a few spare minutes.
tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 21, 2011 Just a short update on our condition. These cwt get togethers are tough on us and our equipment. Taking out insurance next year for sure. lol I woke up Sunday morning and could hardly get out of the bedroom. The knee swelled up and walking was and still is painful. I helped Lance remove a stump by kicking it a bunch of times before getting smart and using a shovel so he could get his truck in. The knee took until Sunday to stiffen up. Peg is covered with chiggers on both legs and it's driving her crazy. While parking my 5th wheel in the back yard the wind blew the gate closed and wiped out most of my passenger side bed. Outdoor Writer Report post Posted June 21, 2011 Aaaha, chiggers, eh? I received several very itchy bites just above my socks and chalked them up to mosquitoes, even though I didn't see any. I bet they were chiggers, though.
Chef Report post Posted June 21, 2011 Yeah, chiggers can be nasty. Sorry to hear you guys got hit with them. Looks like you all had a great time though!
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted June 21, 2011 more pics.... Julie found a large peice of elk hide during the night and was parading around with it in the morning when we woke up. She loved her prize and defended it from the other dogs....it was pretty entertaining! some food pics...we should have taken some of the awesome burgers and wings and such. some outstanding sweet corn! smoked buffalo that didn't last long! excellent side dishes. Young Dallas was so proud of the shot that put his arrow right through the bottle. He was gonna take that bottle home and put it on the wall in his room. Sunshine had a blast and let everyone pet her. She even acted as a therapy dog, when Rachel hurt herself...sunshine went over to comfort her. some archery and people pics. Red Rabbit Report post Posted June 21, 2011 I do not think they are chiggers, but very tiny biting gnats. They were really bad two years ago. A cortisone creme may help with the itching.
azhuntnut Report post Posted June 21, 2011 I have gotten that in the past while scouting up there and found that putting a little clear nail polish on each bump will take care of it quickly. David
