Just A Thought.....

Recommended Posts

I do not post on this site often, but I am on CWT almost daily. Something like this post may have been posted in the past, so I apologize if I am bringing up old issues, but why do so many people get on this forum to just talk s**t!? A majority of the people who post regularly on here, are ethical, upstanding hunters that contribute solid posts, but why on earth do some people waste their time to piss on other people's achievements, or to simply post negative crap? If you want to gossip, or be a ---, join facebook. Hunting is a tradition that goes back thousands of years, to when it was a necessary facet of survival. In the past hundred and fifty years, it has been cemented in our society as a true sporting tradition. Most of our father's and grandfather's taught us many life lessons while in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, whatever activity it may have been. To most of us hunting is beyond a way-of-life, it-helped-mold our lives. I am not trying to be overly profound here, or start some big debate. All I ask is that next time you find yourself wanting to argue via CWT take a minute to reflect on those days you spent in the back-country with your dad, or your grandfather; remember how proud you felt when they witnessed your first kill, or second, or third, and how BIG of a deal they made it seem no matter how big the rack, or how much it weighed; take a minute to reflect on why it is that you hunt and what brought you to hunting; what family traditions surround it. If after all of that, you still feel the urge to share your negativity with all of us on CWT, just remember: facebook is only a click away. There are plenty of idiots on there that would love to argue with you and soak up that negativity!

This forum is to promote our love for hunting and share that love with others who feel the same way.

Again, just a thought.....

I personally think that this forum is great. I see very little if any negativity on it. However I do agree with you that if someone wants to be an A$$ they dont need to do it on here. I think Amanda has done a great job at keeping this sight an uplifting sight as opposed to many other hunting forums Ive been on. I do feel that there is plenty of room for healthy debate on CWT and I truly believe that is a good thing but we always have to remember to respect the opinions of others even if they are not our own. That being said Davidson is 100% correct there is no room for negative belitlleing posts on this sight.

I totally agree that CWT is far above other hunting forums, and that debate, when conducted maturely is a great asset to this site. I was trying to convey that I felt that the majority of regular users on this forum are top notch, but there are always a few rotten eggs. Some comments have bothered me, due to ignorance, but there is nothing anybody can do about that. I came to post this after reading a post and then checking out the person who posted it. You can click on a link to see everything that person has posted from their first post --> on. In doing so, I found that literally everything they posted was an argumentative statement that usually contradicted an earlier comment they had made on an earlier post. It just made me stop to think, why on earth did this person even get on this site at all? They had not created any threads, just replied to posts being a complete ---. So perhaps my post was directed towards that one individual, but its good for all to read. haha!

Hey Davidson, I agree with what you are saying and it bothers me as well when others feel the need to post negatively. That is the reason why I never venture over to the "other" hunting sites and why I spend all my computer time here with the CWT.com folks! The CWT.com family, agreed there are a few bad apples, is full of great folks and it is the best site on the web because of the class of folks here!

I'm sorry you saw something bad enough to feel compelled to post this thread. I would like to encourage anyone that is offended by anything you see posted on this site to contact Amanda or one of the moderators and report it. We are very active in trying our best to maintain this site so that it is friendly and non-offensive to everyone.

I would appreciate it if you could PM me the members name so that we can keep an eye out for any future issues! Thanks! JIM>

That is true I have not looked at the link to see all of someones posts on CWT but I do occasionally on AZGFD and it is really sad that people feel that in order to boost there own selfesteem they must tear down anothers accomplishment, and it tends to come from just as Davidson said a few bad apples. A hunter who posts something on here for others to see is usually if not always very proud or happy with something they have done and for another hunter to be disrespectful or negative about it is sad. There are not to many true love of the land people left out there and those of us that are left need to stick together and build others up. To those of us out there that do tend to be sarcastic or negative please think about who you are getting your kicks from...some 10 year old kid who couldn't waite to have Dad post about his first deer, someone who shot something not quite as big as your own but a trophy in there eyes...We all work hard to earn our trophy and we should all understand and support each other in our efforts.

Great opportunity to thank Amanda for keeping this site pretty dang clean. I ventured over to another site and didn't spend much time there because of the language.

I'll let my kid read this site and not worry about that.

Thanks Amanda

I agree and really like this site. it is very helpful and fun to share with other hunters. I think sometimes people just get a little too worked up over stuff. it's human nature to be passionate but you do need self control. you also should remember there are actual human beings on the other side of the screen. sometimes people forget that with our newer technologies. don't say something online that you wouldn't say to someone in person.

You will find internet tough guys and gals on anything internet related, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that's what makes this the best country in the world. Its up to each individual to limit the negative and increase the positive, in the long run it just someone's opinion. I'm not as addicted to CWT.com as the outdoors but getting close thanks for all the knowledge and help on your site.

Attacking people in a negative fashion rarely produces anything positive. On the other hand, some people don't know how to handle opinions that are contrary to their own. They view any difference of opinion as a personal attack. I think we should be able to express differing views and opinions without anyone taking it personal. I have people who I respect highly, while disagreeing with some things they do. Nothing personal. This is a great forum, and I hope it continues to maintain the balance that it now has.
