New digital camera/video camera?

I am consider buying a new camera that can also take HD video. I found one made by Nikon that looks like it might fit the bill, but I would like to hear from the camera experts what you think. Would it be better just to purchase a newer video camera, or can I get away with using this one. I am currently using a Panasonic video camera that has the 3CCD and image stabilization, but no HD capability. David
