Lion Seminar Thursday

Recommended Posts

So who all went? I thought it was awesome? Ton of good info, and good to hear it from a guy that has called in over a 100 lions plus! I think his number was around 119 or something!

I heard 109,with all but 3 of them being called in electronically. The man knew his stuff! It was a great seminar.

I went and had an absolute blast! He did a great job presenting decades of experience in a few hours! I have like 4 pages of notes, and that was only the last half, after I realized I needed to record every nugget of wisdom. Can't wait for the book he's coming out with!

I wish I could have made it! When is his book suppose to be out? What kind of lion vocalizations is he using most of the time is it like a mt lion in heat? I read through his website and I don't really get what those wt callers can do that no other caller can do and why it is so critical? Anybody get that?

There are different scenarios that determine which call might work better, but the most important thing from what I understood is to respond to the lion vocalizations with the same vocalization.

As for the call, I think sheer volume is vital, without compromising clarity. His lowest volume setting, 1 of 6 levels, was about as loud as my Spitfires highest! He turns it on at 6, and never moves it! Crazy, I know!

What type of call did he use?

He used just about every thing you can think of!

Here is a link for the electronic caller he uses, that one of his students, Mark Healy, has commercialized. I'd love to have one. I'd hate to have to carry it very far!

The mighty atom is made by same company that made his model, Wildlife Technologies. His is an older model with a larger TOA horn. He mentioned his caller was over a $1000. That would be in part because of the sounds he has loaded by Bill on it. They are defiantly loud callers.

I had the pleasure to taking Steve out for dinner at Outback before the seminar and getting to speak with him one on one is worth the price of any dinner. he is a wealth of knowledge and he shares it. That's what sets him apart from the rest.
